A Fragment of a Confession...

It's been my pleasure to bring Ivan Kopas' A Fragment of a Confession to the ears of my audience. A Fragment of a Confession was inspired by a Robert Browning poem, Pauline. And Mr. Kopas expresses his interpretation of the poem with musical imagery using elements of electronics to pull you into his world.

"Amrita," mellow groove, echoing synths and keyboards, riding over a melodic bass line.
"Oceans and Clouds," uptempo, danceable rhythms
"Don't Let Go, (Hold On)," mid-tempo hip shaker, harmonious synths supporting an echoing vocal
Though this is Kopas' first release he's a veteran in the music industry having produced major artists like Gloria Estefan and Korn. Bringing multiple rhythms, tempos and styles, this album is a must have for entertaining guests and well as singling out the dance tracks for partying. Such is the strength of A Fragment of a Confession, three of the first four eligible tracks added to rotation have made it into Jazzy Lounge's Top Ten charts: "Amrita," "The Rains Retreat" and "Spirit Dance."

A Fragment of a Confession by Kopas.
The following tracks are currently in rotation: "Spirit Dance", "Budapest Blues" and "Don't Let Go (Hold On)"

Funk is the code word for this week. A few weeks ago I had the experience of meeting a wonderful fan who suggested that I add a little more "funk" to my playlist. I obliged. I'm glad I did. Jazzy's getting a little jazzier and a little funkier so if you love hip-shaking, head-nodding, toe-tapping, body shaking music, you gotta tune in. Have I gotten away from my primary genres of the past? Nah. As evidence of the artists listed below, you still hear downtempo, chill, lounge, nujazz, ambient, etcetera grooves streaming from your speakers. Just be prepared, if you're sitting, to rock that chair. If you 're already standing.... Whoa, boy.... Whoa.

Continuing to span the globe to find music new and exciting, these artists supply a taste of chill, lounge, jazz, world and more.

Me & Mrs. Brown...

Remember the 70's and the great funk bands with great horn sections- The Ohio Players; Brass Construction; ConFunkShun and others? Well Sugarman does. So much that he offers thirteen tracks that pay homage to the funk-filled rhythms and sounds of days gone by. Having heard "My Obsession" on the compilation Urban Lounge, I performed a web search to gather more information on this funky artist. Sure enough, he has a U.S. CD release date of September 25th. After reviewing the CD, additional tracks were selected for airplay. Get your groove on with a solid selection of heavy hitting tracks on Sugarman's Me & Mrs. Brown.

A Jazzy Lounge Music Review

Liquid Lounge...
Brand new start up label Good Mood Music has introduced a series of strong releases available on Beatport.com including the robust Liquid Lounge by Living Room. This is a two album set- (Serie A) and (Serie B)- with a total of thirty-one downtempo, chillin', loungin', jazzy tracks. Two tracks are supplied by guest artist Zen Space, who makes the best of his time by supplying a very positive message in "Liebe" and a laid-back, funky groove titled "Close Your Eyes."

One of my favorite tracks currently in the playlist is "From Suspicious Mind" where the first twenty seconds of the track make you suspicious. Where are they going with this? Two sampled voices-male and female- are interwoven back and forth over a laid-back groove sure to keep your head bobbin' throughout the remaining 3:28. Additional favorites are listed below as well as having pulled a total of fifteen tracks for current and future airplay.

Liquid Lounge by Living Room.

The following tracks are currently in rotation: Living Room "From Suspicious Mind", Living Room "Opus II", Zen Space "Liebe" and Living Room "Shuffle"
